shock absorber valving

Default shock absorber valving

Anyone familiar with the valving in shock absorbers and how it relates to ride and off road traction.


For example the bilstein bf5a198h1 has a 255/70 valving
and the ...h0 has a 175/60

I assume the smaller the valve the more resistance can someone shed some more light on this for me. Which would generate more heat and which is better for what terrain.
