Default so.. teach me about lifting my truck

i know cars suspensions but absolutely nothing of trucks and SUV's

i was thinking about this coming spring lifting my 2004 4x4 5.3 Tahoe 2" and putting some bigger tires on.

the truck came with 17's stock and i would like to keep the factory wheel or if i do change the wheels i would like the same size but want the tires to fit the wheel well properly with the 2" lift without rubbing (or at least without rubbing a lot.

i was only thinking of putting on some nitto tires or BFG all terrains. size recommendation?

also. would i HAVE to do socks if lifted or can i get away with stockers until i upgrade? (the kit says i can get away with it but really?)

i came across a 2" lift kit on Tirerack.com made by truxxx would this be all i need to do the job? or what else would i need. maybe a better recommendation on a kit?

Come over to z71tahoe-suburban forum, just about every guy there has a fully leveled Tahoe. The most common lift is 2" spacers and ford keys. You will get a good 2 to 2.5 inches all around. On 16s yo will be able to fit 33s no problem. Some have even gone to 35s. Your gonna have to do shocks so most of us go with the bills. 5100s. We have the specific size listed on the site.
