the tranny has to be completely torn down. and the right spline output shaft that is for the transfercase installed. the adapter plate just mates the two pieces but the output shaft goes into the transfercase.

i would find a 4wd tranny out of a like truck and then sell your 2wd tranny to recoup some of the expense.

I would bump your price up to 5000-6000 us thats doing it the right way. to give you some prices mines alittle more then it seems you want but heres some prices
dana 60 -900
np241 and sye-500
14 bolt-200
brakes, bearings, studs-900
wheels tires-3000
gears and lockers-1800
misc stuff-500 to 600

this is my price list so far, take note that it is NOT complete and it is a rough estimate, and the axles do not include the cost of repairs that MIGHT come up

205-208 Transfer Case $200-$700,

Transfer Case adaptor $50

Dana 60/44 Front Axle, $150 (used at junk yard)

14/12 Bolt rear axle $250 (used at junk yard)

Front Leaf Springs $600

ORU IFS conversion kit $1200

ORU transfer case cross member $200

73-87 3/4 ton 4wd pickup - $1500-2000
bed, cab, new front clip IF needed - $1000-1500
8" suspension lift - $800
and call it a day

dude you lookin at a good bit of work if you dont really know that much about it. dont take me the wrong way, im not tryign to be a dick, i just dont want ya to get in over your head



on another note, you can get a dana 60 for $150, holy ***** i wish they were that cheap around here

you will for sure have to rebuild those axles. more then likely they wont be out of the same truck and might just have different gears in them. a axle that has been sitting in a junk yard for any amount of time is not very safe to just start using. the bearings will be more apt to fail and that would be very bad driving down the highway doing 50mph when your front or rear axle locks up

as far as the work goes I got a pretty good idea of whats involved price wise I didnt have a good idea,hears another idea instead of purchasing all that stuff through a junkyard, I found a 1986 GMC 3/4 ton army truck for sale 6.2 litre diesel 4x4, the guy is asking $1000 for it, differtials, transfer case and engine all and good working order, how about that, sorry If Im bothering you guys, I kinda sound lame hear
