I would jump on that as soon as you could. those trucks take a beating are awsome. you can keep your truck and if that old carbed diesel gives up you can just do a complete swap from your truck.

ya that should already be a dana 44/12 bolt if i am correct so there will be no need for axle swapping either, as long as everything runs properly as is. if you want a woods beater this is the way to go dude, post up some pics so we can see the shape of the body

Staight axle conversion has its pros and cons. Maintenance on the front end suspension goes down, b/c it tougher than a ******* rock. The bad side is that it rides liek its built like a rough *****. If its going to be a show truck, or 75% off road truck 25% hwy truck go for it.

which is true, ifs is SOO much more comfortable, but lifted ifs is just as uncomfortable to. everybody always says this but my 85 gmc is that uncomfortable and neither was my K5, so i think a lifted IFS is going to be just as uncofortable as a sfa

If you want big power and big tires, sfa is the only way to go without spending a forture. sfa is also cheaper to lift, especially if you go with leaf springs. I'm in the process of converting my 1996 GMC Jimmy 4 door to sfa and a 350v8/th350 combo; so far I have less than $800 in it. I already have my engine (just finished building it), tranny, axles, springs, s10 v8 conversion brackets. Of course, I'm doing all the work myself, but it still wouldn't cost a real fortune or nothing.
