you could always buy all GMracers (he goes by that on here to) stuff and just make your truck 4wd. little bit of a hike. SFA is gonna be a good bit. i think you have to get a 44 or 60 in which case your probably lookin at $700-$1200 right away. then all your brackets... and you dont even have a 4wd trans or tcase yet

Exspect to pay anywhere between $5-10,000. you need at least a dana 44 as beastmode said, most go with the almost bullet proof dana 60, you need all your brackets, leaf springs, hydro steering, brakes, axle rebuild kits, cross over steering, wheels, then most likely tires to go with it, should upgrade to a 14 bolt rear end, transfer case, get a 4wd output shaft installed in your tranny, and you would need to get a front drive shaft made, and time and a place to do it.

way better flex (articulation) out of the front end.
so you can beat the living snot out of the front end . . .
run over / hit trees. . .
hit deep holes fast
. . . sink it in the water, and not have to worry about the seals
flex/crawl over just about any thing
run 38" + tires and not have to worry about 4 tie rods or ball joints.
getting air borne
no problems rocking it out of a hole . . . drive, reverse . . drive . . . . reverse . . . drive

I never did a solid axle swap myself, but 99% of the guys on gmfullsize that HAS done them will tell you it CAN cost up to 10K, most guys average around 7k

You'll need 2 new axles.
Need them rebuilt
Limited slip/Locker
Gears
Leaf Springs
New Shocks
Rims
Tires
possibly new hubs unless you get both 6 lug axles which is tough to do
Brackets
Transfer case
Driveshaft
Etc
Obviously, if you can fab your own stuff, you can save yourself thousands, but if you include all costs and don't do a half *** job, you'll spend around ~$10000
