Question Speed sensor Or Speedometer? (One is going out)

Hey guys
I need some info. My speedometer gets stuck sometimes and i not sure if its the speed sensor or the speedometer.
Where is the speed sensor located at on all wheel drive 2003 cadillac escalade? What are some symptoms when a speed sensor goes bad? what are the some symptoms when a speedometer goes bad?I want to try to fix the speed sensor first if its cheaper then sending my speedometer of to get the stepper motor fix.
Can someone give me some info?

It is the cluster they are a know problem for the gm trucks. U should be able to get it replaced for free at a local gm dealer.

You can have the dealership run a diag on the cluster. Takes less than 5 mins. Also, stepper motors are available on ebay... if you are comfortable working on the cluster yourself. If not, there are people available thru ebay that rebuild clusters for reasonable. Check it out. Almost for certain, it's the cluster. BIG GM problem

Mine was stuck at 0 but I gave the dash a good quick rap with an open palm above the cluster and it's worked again ever since.

When my speed sensor went bad truck wouldn't shift. With known cluster issues and if it shifts fine I would defanitaly lean towards the cluster.
