towing with 10 inch lift
Hey guys real quick question for you... I'm thinking about buying a 2007chevy duramax truck has a rize 10 inch lift with 40's just wondering if pulling close to 10,000pounds (its just a tractor for work not an everyday thing) is this going to hurt the truck or effect the towing, just need to know before I get serious about buying thanks really appreciate the feedback.

I would not be worried about it to much. However i would look into a good hitch setup like the one up offroad or something that has support's for the big drop hitch you'll need. Also just watch your egt's etc.

The truck wont be your issue, but if it has the factory tow package, they are usually rated at 5K. Not 10k like what the truck can handle. And most slide ins are 5k rated as well. Just check both the stickers. A 10 tow ball has a shaft of about 1 3/8 inches. They are stupid thick.

That's gonna be one big drop down hitch... You will be fine, you just might be a little disappointed with performance towing with a truck turning that big of tire if it hasn't been re-geared.

You will need steep gears to keep your trans temps down. When my broinlaw went to 35s his trans and egt temp jumped while towing. When he swapped to 4.56 from 3.42 he gained significant bottomend and had temps drop dramatically while being able to town at higher speeds. He tows about 10-15,000lbs on a regular basis.
