Towing setup and 4.56 with 33s
Well im gonna be towing my travel trailer 9 hours next month for work, and the truck barely pulls it now with the 3.73s in 3rd gear on flat land haha. So the truck is going into the shop on Tuesday for 4.56s and Tru trac.
Truck is a CCSB 5.3/4l60e 4wd, probably a little over 6k with the loaded tool box, 33s, and grill guard.
only mods are intake, cat-back, HP tuners tune, and LS3 Throttle Body.
Travel Trailer is about 8000lbs loaded with electric Trailer brakes.
Truck is equip with a Trailer Brake controller, that helps alot.
Towing mirrors are on order.
Tru cool 40k is sitting here in my room as well as a Deep Transmission pan and new trans filter.
My main concern is making this 60e last till I can have time for put in 80e. I wanted a 6 speed, but thats not going to be an option with the 4.56s lol.

I just graduated with a civil engineering degree. I'm going to be working for Halliburton as a Field Engineer in Frac.
Cody I just can't see spending the money on swapping from 3.73s to 4.10s. The 6 speed would be sweet, but I don't like that nobody has figured out the TU/TD. If I do go 6 speed, I guess that will force me togo 6" lift and 35s haha. The next mod after gears will be removing the DOD lifters and a cam. I'm thinkin maybe 220/220. Then tranny and converter.
I forgot to mention that I do have a weight distribution hitch.

I have 4.56's with a 285 almost 33". And I pull a big lifted k5 blazer on 38's with winch, tools, on a 18 foot trailer 450r ATv in the bed. And it pulls fine. It'll lock the converter in overdrive on flatland at 75mph. My fuel milage unloaded isn't terrible either. I say go for the 4.56's!

Ya my plan was to switch the rear and see how I like he gear before doing the front. Due to needing to be in Odessa by June 3rd, just need to make the switch and break them in.
I'm waiting on a quote from Ron for 4.30s, as well as avalibility. Might go that route if avalible.

There are at least a couple guys on here with six-speeds and 4.56s, one on 33s and one on factory size rubber. Also, the 2500HD comes standard with 4.10s and little 245s (245/75-16 through 2010, 245/70-17 2011+) and they drive just fine on the highway. I would do the 4.56s if that's what you want right now, and the 6-speed down the road as long as you never plan to drop back to 31s.

It would just give you a ton of bottom-end torque after the trans swap; you would actually drop a few rpm on the highway after you put in the six-speed due to a .03 taller gear ratio on the 6L80E (.67 sixth vs .70 fourth). It actually sounds like a pretty sweet setup to me.
