Default What size Gears would you recommend? Need help!!

It is a 1980 Chevy Blazer 4x4.
Only Mods are.

- SBC 350
-Crane Came 218/218 .450/.450
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...&view=1&N=700+
- edelbrock performer 650 cfm and performer intake manifold.
- Long tube headers
- 2.5 true duals with 2 chamber mufflers, dumped before rear axle.
- 35x15.50-15lt TSL Super Swampers
- 6 inch lift.
- stock 350 TRans

This is only a toy I use to haul my quads about 5 miles on weekends, and some fun in the sand climbing hills. Not worried about gas milage at all. what should i go with 4.10's, 4.56's or some thing else.

ok, too weird and not the first time this has happened but when I voted I got taken to a thread started in 2004 and not posted in since 2005

I would say a minimum of 4.56 gearing with those big heavy tires. Anything less is going to suck big time.

I suggest you delete this thread and start over....I cant fix the issue.

4.56 if you do a lot of hwy driving and DONT plan on going bigger
4.88 if you do a lot of city and MIGHT go to a bigger tire i.e. 37's

I'd do the 4.56's going any lower, might make it rev to high, remember its a gen I 350 that most likely won't be revving to 6k+ rpms. What gears does it have in it now?

I'd say 4.56's with 35"-37" tires, but anything bigger than that 4.88's.

I had a f250 with 35s and 4.88s, it had power but that was all. You could find some axles with 3.73s and that would suit you. We had a blazer with 3.73s 35 mt and uprights and often ran it in mud bogs. I dont like real big gears, nor big lifts. If you want to spend the money, dont care about mileage and just want power go with 5.13s which is probably the biggest gear you can stuff in 44s. You need to look into whether you will have to swap hogs heads. I think a gear vendors overdrive unit would be a worthy investment.
