yeah i know what your saying but then there are no tires that can fit my rim in any decent size?? I can't afford another $500 for a decent set of used wheels. Got any idea's on a good lookin off road tire for me then to wrap around these stockers?? I sent nitto a message, so hopefully they can chime in for me haha.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Andrew383 you said many have run the 285's on the stock 16" rim?? I like that tread pattern on those ebay ones but I wanted something a little wider then 235's. I think 265 might be the best size as 285's might be a tad too wide.
Ugh decisions on wheels are such a PITA haha. Keep the information comming guys, i should hopefully be buying some this weekend if all goes well.

I ran 285-75-16 BFG AT on my 2001 2500HD and they were fine without a torsion lift. When getting new tires I went with 295-75-16 Grabber AT2 and they rubbed. So I did a key lift. Then I bought new wider rims and they started to rub so I had to modify the bumper with spacers and cut back the lower valance. I wouldn't run Nitto Terra Grappler based on the reviews I've read on the HD trucks chewing them up in under 20k.

Thanks for the info Tyglon. Did the 285/75/16's fit alright on your stock wheels?? They weren't too big for the little 16/6.5's?? That's all i'm realy worried about right now, i think they will fit in wheel well especially if i do torsion lift.

Yeah, they ran well for me. I haven't had the truck since new, so I don't know how stock 245 rode. I could assume stiffer and the truck wouldn't be as much of a pooch. You will have to expect that. Other than that there was nice wear and no signs of the sidewalls going to hell. Planning a D or E? That could make a difference as well. Both of mine we D. Good luck.
