DIY elec. fans for the TBSS

Fans are in ...CEL is on!! not for long though, getting it flashed again on Monday (Hopefully).. 30Amp relays work great, Installed 2 switches, one for secondary fan shutdown (figure in the winter I wont need to run 2) and the other is for the staging lanes, manual override... long install, lots of extra wiring and what not ...all in all, I am very happy, truck feels even quicker (maybe 10RWHP?? Hopefully dyno soon) Hopefully Wester's will figure out how to run the fan through the ECM, for now it's off of a controller (Works Flawlessly)...

Tony did you go with the ls1 fans? I found a local set of fans with the shroud for $80 so I'll be doing the e-fan and UD pulley next week. I might try to do a full write up for people also since I am also doing a full write up on the electric cutout install.

Alot of questions about how to install a switch for the fans..
basically all you need to do is run a wire with a 12V source to the switch, and then from the switch, tap into your signal wire (either 85 or 86 on the relay). When you throw the switch it will supply 12V to the relay and turn the fans on..
Hey Tony, feels great to save $800 dont it?

I only saved $400.00, I bought all brand new from GM & even with tools, wire, connectors (many extras of everything) etc,etc.... I love the look and sound of the dual setup over the single, plus the benefit of a "backup" unit, plus the manual override (I also carry an extra relay in case, along with fuses) everything is fused with 30Amps, have 3 power feeds, one for each relay & one for the switch, which is carrying a signal on only, light load to the 2nd fan's relay) I wish it were monday already so that dam light would be off!! doesn't affect drivability, but still..
this poanel is getting replaced, I scratched it up! but the switches look factory..

Obviously you will need to make sure the polarity on the fans is correct, I believe the white and light blue wires are positive.
And you will also need to program the check engine light out for the high resistance in the fan circuit (P0525???). Most people say the truck will go into limp mode, but when I did it, I ran around for several months without any power problems and that light on..

well i got my ls1 fans from e bay 100 shipped and the flex a lite controller for it
http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/html/vsc.html
fans come on at 60 percent to prevent a big surge on the charging system and slowly go up to 100 percent if needed.
