Default AC Delco PF59 Oil Fliter Discontinued

so I was at the dealer talkin over my drivers window not moving, apparently slaming the door fixed that..anyways I bought an oil filter since I was there, and they gave me a PF46, I didnt even look twice figuring they knew, 8 hours later I drain the oil out of my truck and grab the box.....thinkin WTF my truck takes a 59 not a 46, so flaming mad I got to the local Farm and Fleet and sure enough theres a sign that says the 59 was dc and the 46 will work, its definitely a shorter filter, but I'm sure there right if the dealer did it too...I ended up getting some 8 dollar Fram deal, since I like the rubber coating on the bottom, but be advised of the change.

Yup, check out the thread in the genral area. PF61 works, same threads, same seal, longer length than the puny PF46.

The auto parts store in Watertown carries WIX too. Bout $7.50 a filter.
Not ricer central either, the one down by the meat market.

That fram rubber crap is cool when putting the filter on. But when taking it off, the stuff always flakes off on me.

I stocked up on the 59's. I think I have 5 left.

Yep. Found that out the other day. I prefer WIX. Higher but a better quality filter than AC delco. Not sure a higher quality filter is needed. Most WIX filers run in the $5 range around here, a couple of bucks more than delco.

Fram filters are shitty, you may as well not even run a oil filter.

I've only used WIX until the other day and the
WIX is deep. So I didn't know about the AC delco. I went to the parts store and asked for an oil filter for my truck and didn't specify and AC is what they brought out. I didn't complain. It came brand new with a long AC on it. BTW, I tore it up in December and didn't get it running again until 3 weeks ago. It only had 11k miles on it so no, I haven't changed the oil recently nor very many times, 2 times tops.

Agreed. Sold parts for 4 years and have seen the inside of them and the comebacks. I'll never put one on anything I own.

I still have 2 PF59's left, then I was thinking of switching to the UPF44...it's short like the 46, but supposed to be Delco's top of the line performance filter. They used to make a UPF59 until they discontinued that...guess it was signs of things to come.

What's the PF61? Is that the filter that's similar to the 59, only without an anti-drainback valve?
