Picked up an SKS with several tactical mods including a collapsable stock, red dot long eye relief scope, bipod, rail system, muzzle brake, etc. I've never had any kind of assault rifle and never been a fan of the 5.56 round after carrying it in combat. I've been looking for a larger caliber AR (like a .308) or similar.
Got a pretty good deal on all of this stuff including another stock and, several 20rd mags and an old original SKS mag. Got the original bayonette that came with the rifle and some old leather pouches. Also got 600rds of old Yugoslavian ammo. I'll be putting that up and ordering some newer stuff for it. Pics to follow

that's a Yugo SKS. Have you tried those mags out yet? I personally prefer them in original form but if it's fully functional in it's altered state hooray!
You know that muzzle device is a grenade launcher? You can find special blank rounds and launchers to fire potatoes easy.

the mags work flawlessly so far, and so does the original type. I heard something about the grenade launcher attachment, I'll have to look into that for sure If I find one, there will be pics posted of what some Idaho's do to a 4x8 sheet of plywood
I've put about 40 rounds through it so far and it shoots very nice. I'm going to try lightening up the trigger some also, and the take-up on it is LONG... any way to tighten that up some? Yeah, I was only wanting the Yugo model, not a fan of the Chinese stuff... lots of American made accessories and parts now for it so I'll be putting as much American stuff on it as possible

I sold my russians, I had ~5 russians from differing years. The SKS is a wonderful firearm, I can field strip blindfolded in under a minute. Make sure your firing pin is clean and free of oil Does your pin free float or is it sprung?
I know you know how to care for a gas operated firearm, enjoy. Look on the net for that loader, I've seen video of potatoes going several hundred yards
