Default Any railroad workers?

I just had my second interview with Union Pacific and it's looking good so far. We got any railroad workers here? If so, how's the job and the life change? From what I understand your pretty much married to the job and are on call 24/7 anytime and it stays like that until you starting getting seniority. But their pension and health coverage can't be beat.

After 18 weeks of training I would be a conductor taking care of the trains and cargo. Then I'd have the chance to go to engine school to be an engineer. I'm not sure on the seniority, but I've heard somewhere around 5 years before I could really control my schedule.

Yea my girlfriends father is a engineer and pulls in 125k a year and he's only gone for a day or 2 at a time.

I found out we'll be having a baby in Feb, so I really need some good insurance and benefits.
