anyone ever modify an outboard engine?

I have a 2002 Mercury 4-stroke with a warranty that's about to expire. I have the 115, but it's the same block as the 150. I know guys have done it, I just have no idea. Anyone know what to swap out to get those extra ponies?

my uncle did it top his optimax after it blew up , did not gain a damn thing noticable save the cash
