Once my 20" 555r are wasted (next month when I pick up my truck) that will be my next tire. The 555r are the best hooking tires I have used on the streets and looking forward to these.

im not saying that i cant spin the tires with the 555r, but it has been the best street tire that ive tried so far BY FAR! when they were new with the LS1 i could launch on the street and be 100% throttle and into the 125 shot of nitrous without spinning. this all happened in first gear(rolling throttle). it was running mid 11's at that point. i hear the MT et drag radial is alot better, but you only get about 5k from the tires before the wear bars are gone. the NT05r sounds like it could be a good middle road between the mt et drag and 555r. i hate to see people recomending toyo proxies and kuhmos as a great hooking street tire. ive been through alot of tires out back. proxies and kuhmos lasted a long time and wore great...but as for a performance tire, they were a joke. maybe enough performance for a stocker.

short of running an MT et street, i dont think you will ever have a tire that will do just about perfect traction wise. but the et street isnt a great compromise of hooking hard on street and actually taking a 1k mile trip. i want a tire that i can hop into the truck and drive to florida if i decided to. mt also doesnt make a 18" et street

I'm pretty sure those are the tires I ran at the Truckin throwdown. They did pretty well in all the events save for the drag race, even at half power I spun them in second gear. Then again it was on loose asphault full of weeds and cracks, etc...
They performed really well in twisties and cornering.
However I'm 90% sure that's what I have.

I replaced my 555R with a set of NT05R a couple months ago. They definately hook better on the street than the 555R but they are not the end all be all of drag radials. I will say I have been satisfied with the improved traction but I hate how they squeal when they do spin. They are still useless in first and part of second wot on my truck. Rolling into the throttle in second they hook pretty good though. I could light the 555R up in third. Here is a comparison pic to the worn 555R and the NT05Rs mounted...

have you tried any other drag radials? i dont think im needing the end all be all. im looking to get some decent mileage out of them and i know the end all be all wont get but 2 or 3k. squeal of a burnout doesnt bother me. i dont hear much over the exhaust.

how do they do in the rain compared to the 555r. i see people complain about 555r in the rain and i had absolutely zero issues with the rain.
