I have tried lots of street radials but only the Nittos in drag radials. I have not tried the NT05R in the rain yet but I don't anticipate them to be as good as the 555R in the wet due to the large solid center and narrow side grooves. But considering the only three options available in a 305/45/18 I felt the NT05R was the best compromise between price, grip and mileage. If I were daily driving my truck and needing a better mileage tire, I would stick with the 555R. The NT05R are as soft as my Hoosier slicks and would bet they wouldn't last long on a daily application, especially somewhere the roads are as hot in the summer as they are in Texas and Florida.

I had the 555R's then switched to the 05R's and they hook much better but they only lasted 1000 miles and about 40-50 1/4 runs. I went 10.9 with them on my brothers 2010 Camaro. We were destroying everyone on the street too.

Yeah I don't think I'd run that DR on a 2wd vehicle that makes any HP at the track either lol... I think these are as a street tire. Keep the MTs for the track use. I have a buddy who runs these on his GTO, he had the 555rs on it last and could break the 555s loose at will on a hard down shift. He doesn't drive it much so I don't know about the daily wearing but he loves them over the 555rs for street hooking. They look good too IMO, although that's not the purpose.
