I have two IR 2131's, a Snap-On 3/8 MG325 and Snap-On MG725... All I primarily use is my 325. Lugs on 1-tons, pinion nuts, etc... my 1/2 drive hardly gets the dust knocked off it these days....

My MAC is all metal, not composite. I should also mention, as it may be different now, but it's really an IR gun.

At 4.8# that's not bad (uses mag. case) & it's made in U.S. Lot less than I thought @ $422; that's sayin a lot for a Snap-on.

IDK if anyone noticed but it uses RedLine Syn. oil in the bath.

I'd like to have a cordless; would be nice if the need arises w/. no compressor & I'm on the road. Like a Milwaukee or a Snapon (if the Snap-on doesn't cost an arm & a leg).

the cordless snap-on is about the same price...id like to get a IR cordless. i never looked at what oil to use in the IR, i use the oil craftsman uses...guess i should look into it. i dont ever use my impacts an just set em up without being oiled.

I have one of the big cordless ones from snap on to it is nice to have if u are one the road are out in a field and need a impact with no compressor around. I have taken axle nuts off with it at the house and the price isn't all that bad on them but they are heavy.

Well there were a few guys at the shop I work at that got them and at 120psi regulated air they were not lasting with the vains breaking apart taking out the cases. But the metal ones that they have seem to never fail usually just needs a rebuild and good to go for another 5 years. But I'll stick with the snapon impact because I got faith it will last for me.

For impact guns, I love IR, all other air tools I like SnapOn pretty much (their 3/8" air ratchet owns). I have the very first composite 1/2" and 3/8" impact guns that IR released, they got used daily for a few years and now come out on the weekends and have been kickin *** for 12+ years or so...not exactly sure but it's been a while lol.

Almost forgot, at work I'm using my old Mac aluminum bodied 1/2" and 3/8" impacts, which as Tom mentioned are IR guns with Mac badging, and they're still kicking butt going on almost 20 years.

BTW, the SnapOn 19v electric 1/2" impact gun is no joke! I have the 14v 3/8" SnapOn impact, and plan to get the 1/2" if I can ever get my SnapOn balance under $500
