Some of the best outboards I have ever seen are the Hondas with v-tech, no joke those things can take a beating and keep going.

There is some good information on here....http://forums.iboats.com/
I mix it, can remember what it is off the top of my head. But, I have it marked on my mixing bottle.

Thanks for the info!

no more cloging or trash.
he also turns off the fuel at the dock and lets it run till all the fuel in the carb is use up before he loads up and go home.

after doing stuff like this he has never had a problem running his boat up and down the river.
I disconnect it and let it run out, but need to put in a fuel filter.

They do at wal-mart and few other places. I run 93 octane in it and where I get gas for it and my truck, I don't think they use ethanol.

I'm really thinking about just getting a new motor hooked up. Not sure what brand yet. I do like Mercury. I got quoted $5250 + tax on a new 50hp Yamaha 2-stroke with a 5 year warranty. I really doubt I spend near that much. I'm thinking a Mercury 25hp 2-stroke. Gonna go see how much the 25hp-50hp will cost me from bass pro shops.

I really don't want to get rid of the boat. It's in really good shape and I've upgraded and added some really useful stuff. If I was to sell it, I doubt I could get more than $1500 for it. With a good motor it would be worth more than $3500. I'll be getting a new boat in a few years. It'll be a tracker. I love them boats and we used to have 2 of them. I was stupid for getting rid of them...

How does it die? Does it go slowly? or just quite, and not restart? If it just quits after a few minutes, it could be a number of things. Like others have posted if the fuel tank is not vented, or a more tricky problem is the coils. once it gets hot, it doesn't work any more. You need to find out what happens.. Does it loose spark? Fuel? Compression?

I work at a Honda marine and power equipment dealership. if you really want to replace your engine, sent me a pm. I'll see what kind of deal I can work for ya......
