what is the pro's to owning a second car.
first and most, extra set of wheels when one breaks down.
dont feel like loaning out the truck, hand over the keys to the beater.
old lady messing around, knows your truck too well, follow her around in the beater.
the best reason of all, is that you can sell it for what you paid for it.
extra project car.
use it to cruse for chicks.

I picked up an S10 here for less than 3K and its been gret so far, it gets a little less than 25mpg so far where the big truck gets ~15-17, I can still pull my small boat, go get parts, take my time on the other truck, and it keeps miles off my playtoy. And my insurance actually went down adding another vehicle. Now I've got 3 trucks and 3 bikes all on one policy.

And like Pappy said, you can always go cruise for chicks

Speaking of gas milage I got just under 11mpg on my first tank (Hopefully I will start to be a little more conservative with it soon!). Filled up late friday evening and had to again this morning. Glad I got my beater!

I tried to go with a cheap truck before. I bought a ranger, threw on a paint job, some wheels, and a stereo. I drove it some but found that I liked driving my truck more. I was paying insurance on the ranger for nothing really, and it didnt get much better mileage than my chevy. I eventually sold it. I bought a motorcycle to try it again. The bike is great to ride and does save a good amount of gas, but there is the weather to worry about, and wildlife. I drive home at midnight from work on a dark wooded road for about 20 miles. There are lots of deer to watch for, as well as skunks, racoons, possums, and other things. I have run over a rabbit doing 60mph and that was scary for a second. In the end, I say just drive the truck.
