yes beaters are worth it, especially when gas is high.... but my point of view, i wont buy a beater for less than $2k cause "I" think they will NOT be reliable... yes a beater is nice to have but you also need something reliable, or atleast i do... both civics that i have had have been very good, never replaced anything... other than change the oil/filter and add gas..... by the way, the civic is for sale, i found me another beater, a truck...

hell mine needs a smog pump/air pump for the emisions junk, and a cam seal. thats about $100 - $150 worth of parts, i bought the car for $600 and im driving it now getting 30+ mpg, not getting my truck dirty or sitting in the weather. ohh and the insurance is only $50, since its my primary now, my truck insurance went down!! So YES they are worth it

Just bought mine for $400...89 Cutlass, 99K and a few minor problems...trans cooler line leaking, efans inop (someone cut the wiring and wired in a manual switch which is also inop), something loose in the L/F (ball joint, control arm bushing, or something), horn inop, rear view mirror fell off windshield...just to name a few. I should be able to make the repairs for under $200 though, and hopefully this car will get me through until I can afford a FLT lvl 5
Oh yea, the car used to be black, but has no paint left on the hood, roof, and trunk...like most 80-90's GM vehicles lol.
