Did a little more research on radios today and decided I'd be better off keeping the stock radio. One question though- does the stock headunit put out bass to the front speakers (crossover?), or do the stock speakers just not produce bass? I dont want to swap out the woofers if they still wont make bass. This stereo with a subwoofer doesnt sound as deep as my 09 that doesnt have a sub.

Also, I have a stock slave CD player I am swapping in the place of the tape player since the headunit doesnt like disks sometimes.

I swapped in the slave cd player and it doesnt work. It took a cd but would not eject it. I dont know if this is from the slave being bad or from the head unit not being able to control it. The guy I got it from said it will work with any GM radio that has the AUX button though. I have another coming, so I will know something shortly. The only swap like this I can find documented online is someone swapping in a Denali 6 disk. I guess I may be the first with the 2 disk changer mod

I ended up ditching every piece of the 'Premium Sound System' in mine for aftermarket stuff. New HU, speakers, amps and subs. When I bought mine the front driver speaker didn't work and I though it was just a blown speaker or bad connection. Nope, bad external amp. That made my decision easier to upgrade everything. I have the stockhead unit in the garage and the external cd player still in the console if you find you need either of them. I also have all of the stock speakers.
