I agree but they tigged the entire chassis. Molly would have cost a good deal more but saved a ton of weight on such a heavy duty set up.
Obviously there are other factors such as if the person using the tig torch was comfortable welding cromoly but if I had the money to full on build a truck like this I certainly would have stepped up. This isn't a budget build nor a roll bar and some down tubes that only weigh a few pounds. Across this entire back half you could probably save 100-200 lbs easy and probably more.

That is where I have seen them most is road courses or dirt track racing. I can see where if you where building a truck to just cruise around in or going after the speed record at the Texas mile it may come in handy. Do to the fact that you could change gears between runs if u thought that it was needed.
