In Cancun, BORED

ALso thought this was cool, while traveling through one of the tiny mexican towns in our huge tour bus, I snapped a pick of someones theft prevention contraption. Broken glass bottles cemented on the tops of their walls.....
Entrance to chichen itza.....
Also another thing I think is cool is that all this is still here. It was of course covered by jungle, but was preserved rather well. When Columbus was sent looking for a shortcut to India for spices, and found Yucatan instead, All he did was walk the beaches, saw Incas wearing lots of Gold, and went back and told his King how all the natives were a wild people who danced all day and had no culture....he never walked inland, or he wouldve found all this. Boy was he wrong. Some of the most advanced people resided on the Yucatan Peninsula....

Hey thanks a ton for this! I love ancient architecture and have yet to visit Central America. Really awesome to think of how organized and advanced their cultures were.
I will be visiting Angkor Wat in Cambodia in a little more than a month, I hope to have some really good pics like these to post up too.

oh and the broken glass? people in the Caribbean have been doing this since the 1600's. Foundations are full of old bottles. I had a buddy who dug up old glass, sold it for a new Camaro. The old forts from the Spanish days have glass shards on top of the walls too.

I had never seen it, but it made perfect sense lol. Yeah I am really disappointed I couldnt do more exploring. I have like 40 more pics but they are having trouble uploading.
I was reading in a book i bought in the hotel lobby lastnight, that back when Chichen Itza was discovered, the guy who found it spent like 30 years living on it and exploring it. Wouldve loved to be in his shoes. There is so much to be learned from all those carvings...

Great pics man, a good history lesson .. i would love to see stuff like this in person one day.. Have seen a good bit of stuff in my short time, but this would be one of the tops for sure.. I think it is kinda strange the winner(capy) gets his head lopped off though..
