Christmas in near! I am excited for my kids.
I have been in and out of the RC hobby for around 25 years and I have been wanting to get my son a hobby grade RC truck for a few years. This year is he is 9 and I will have the money. Traxxas has been owned by me or my friends since day one and never had any complaints so this is my son's presant. I will buy it next week pay day but I don't know how I will keep in the box!

It is brushed. The truck will probably do 20+ with this motor. It will have 3 stages to get to that point though. Single pack training mode(50% speed), single pack regular mode(100%) speed, Dual packs in series. So it will easily last my son 2-3 years I am figuring. If he wants/needs more speed at that point we can change motors for $20-$30.
Traxxas now has the "power up" that at any point I can upgrade the brushed motor for a brushless for $100. I send in my old speed controller and motor and they send me the upgrade. They have similar things for the radios to go from FM to 2.4 ghz.

If you didn't have one of these when you were a kid you were in last place, hahaha. I miss all my old RC trucks.

I had a super blackfoot. I can't tell you how many screw I dropped in the carpet and begged god to let me find! The ready to run stuff is a lot of fun but building it yourself made it that much more fun.
They are so fast now you end up rebuilding most everything front to back at some point in time.
