Damn It, Injured Yet Again!
After being out of work from the end of January to the end of April with a torn left bicep tendon, I screwed myself up yet again today. I was doing a 20K service on a 2010 RX350, which includes and oil change, and some gorilla (who is one of our techs), decided that the oil filter housing needs to be installed with either an impact gun or breaker bar Our newer cars have an oil filter element that go inside of an aluminum housing that is supposed to be torqued to only 3 in/lb! Well upon my attempt to break this thing loose, I gave it a tug and it wouldn't go, tried a little harder, still no-go, then gave it a full tilt pull and *pop*, pain in the right side of my groin...big pain. I figured that I pulled my groin It took an impact gun to get the housing off After I got the RX finished, I told my boss what happened and took a ride over to the same Concentra Urgent Care that took care of my tendon. It didn't take the doc but on cough to tell me that I have a hernia, and require surgery. Gonna be missing more work, and swim time with my daughter while the stitches heal
I'm only 41 and already I'm getting too old for this ****

Damn man, sorry to hear that. Sounds like its been a tough year for you! I feel like I'm getting too old sometimes and I'm only 26. Good luck with the surgery, and hope all goes well. Make sure you take it easy for a while so you can heal up and spend some time with your daughter. I have two and it seems as if time goes by quicker each year.

Sorry to hear about the new injury Billy. I'll be the one to say it but if you haven't been doing some kinda of daily excercise you should start. Doesn't matter if it's 30 minutes of treadmill or biking a day or full on Yoga but the better shape you put yourself in the longer your body will last and be able to take the abuse of your job. Here's the a speedy recovery big guy!!

Thanks for all of the well wishes and advice fellas, it's greatly appreciated. Yea Julien, I need to exercise, as well as quit smoking and eat better, I don't take care of myself. About 8 years back, when I did quit smoking, ate right, and exercised every day (walking about 4-6 miles), not only did I lose 70lbs, but I didn't get sick or injured once in the 10 1/2 months that I didn't smoke. At the very least I should stretch every day, which I don't do either
