Dealership's A/C repair cost estimate is Bullsh*t
My friend took his 2000 or 2001 Tahoe in to the dealership (who shall remain nameless) to see how much his a/c will cost to be repaired, and they sent him this cost estimate below:
$2100 with taxes to fix the A/C seems crazy high to me. When I got mine fixed it was $800, and I was still pissed about that.
Does this estimate seem right? If it were me, I would put the money towards a blower and drive with the windows down.
Hey XXXX this is the breakdown on the a/c repair.

orifice tube 6.13
freon 56.25
a/c oil 14.00

i replaced the tube. pulled a -30 vaccuum on the system. and filled it up with 2 cans of freon. the ac blew just as cold!

**** same here i'll do it for 2/3 of what he's charging.
between the cost of each part of the repair and the labor, that sounds about right actually, assuming labor is about 100$/hr

just looking on the gm parts system here at the shop without the vin. I do not see a in line a/c filter listed for the 00-01 tahoe. Also the compresser they priced looks to be a reman one by the price which will come with the o-rings for it. Everthing else is about par.
