This chart didn't really come out in an easy to ready form but the first number is Calories (Watts-Hour), followed by joules, and finally compared to TNT. As stated, it is the amount of energy in one gram.

Gasoline produces 105 times more energy per gram than a rechargeable computer battery (what someone stated was used). I don't know if you are familiar with the prices of computer batteries but they are not cheap and will need to be replace as well. This is why fully electric cars haven't had a huge success yet. Sure, they are greener than regular cars but they are still more expensive in the long run. Besides, the weight of batteries needed to compare to gasoline would be astounding.
