Its easy to pull the pump rotor out. There are a few bolts on the cover, then it just comes out.

so should i open it up and look, or just peek into it? are those notches at the 5:00 position the "teeth" that you're talking about?

They can be at any position depending on where teh coverter stopped spinning at. There should be two of them in there and be directly across from each other. Thats what fits into the slots on the converter snout for the last "click" when youre seating a converter.

No they can spin, they just need to be spinning together.

ok, airhammer > bolt. wish i left the trans attached and tried the air hammer first. anyways, the trans is dry on fluid, i looked in and everything looks fine and turns together with a screw driver like cody mentioned. slipped the converter in dry and noticed a squeeking noise that ive never heard before when turning a converter. any thoughts?
