Default Extended cabs suck with kids

Back when I was single an ec had plenty of room, now that I have a wife, kid and a dog and ALL the **** that goes along with it(married guys Im sure you know what Im talking about) suddenly that extended cab feels claustrophobic at best. It would be better if I had a bed cover to put some stuff under it but the cab room just doesnt work. The passenger seat has to be put forward so far for the baby seat to fit I think if we had a wreck the wife may be inserious trouble when the air bag ocmes out. The ole Z may have to get lost here soon. I have no idea how some of you guys do it with rc trucks.

Am I the only one to feel cramped with an ec truck and kids?

I did find me a nice 05 cc gmc Z71 with 215K on it that would be a good candidate to recieve the drivetrain out of my Z

I'm in the same boat. I looking for a crew cab and leave it stock, then I have the EC for a toy, or parts truck for a RC

When I take my nephew anywhere I put his car seat in the middle back seat so it doesn't interfere with either front seat and it's the safest spot. I wouldn't put a child seat next to the doors unless I absolutely had to.
Then I have to put my chair either in the back if someone is riding with me or in the front seat rather than the back like normal. Definitely a bit more cramped. When I first rode in my friends new 2010 CC Silverado I was in the back and just amazed at the room. At that point I've been sold on getting a CC next time I get a new truck.

The biggest thing that pisses me off about extended cabs is when youre in a parking spot with a car next to you getting in between the opposing opening doors takes houdini esque skills. Opening and closing the door multiple times to get groceries in and out is also a PITA. Most of the time we take the wife's aviator for everything but occasionally I like to drive my truck. And going down to my dads where I stay at when Im hunting we have to take my truck in case I kill something and shoe-horning everything into an extgended cab truck is proving to be more trouble than its worth. If the truck I found wasnt halfway across the US it would vbe a done deal and Id just buy the CC

Why are you carrying around the dog in a kennel?

Dont want fur all over the truck, dont want him to spaz out over something and step on my kid, I dont want to get pissed at him for running around and throw his *** out of the window when I get pissed. The list goes on, its jsut easier to leave him in a kinnel. Not to mention I hunt a lot and need the interior space for all my hunting ****. I have stuff piled up to the ceiling and under the seat, center console etc.
