side story....
in the old west a guy gets a mail order bride... they get married... as him and his new bride are leaving in his horse drawn carriage, his horse gets all riled up and stops... the guy gets out and shakes the horses head and looks him dead in the eye and says - "Thats 1..."
Guy gets back in the buggy and they continue down the road... his wife is like WTF?
A little while later, the horse rears up and acts crazy and stops... guy gets out of the buggy, shakes the horses head again and looks him in dead in the eyes and says... "That's 2!...."
Guy gets back in the buggy and off down the road... this time the wife is really starting to wonder about her new husband...
Sure enough, that stupid horse acts up... this time the guy gets out and shoots the horse in the head...
The wife screams... "Why did you do that???!?!?"
Guy looks back at his wife and calmly says... "Thats 1...."
Rob... "That's 1..."

Well it was out there this morning about 50yrds on a tree limb just making a racket. I went and cocked the rifle, loaded a Gamo Master point pellet, opened the screen door and took sight.
Inhale and calm exhale, steady on target, squeezed the trigger and crack! the bird fluttered, feathers scattered and he was down. I took my camera to where I thought it would fall but it fell in some thick shrub behind the neighbors fence. I listened for a chirp or a sound of any kind and nothing.
The battle is over.
I am not happy that I took a life, even one as simple as the birds but I am glad it is over. His death was quick and painless. I will say a prayer for it's spirit.
