this was the 340 ton boulder that they transported 60 miles to lacma, my employer had to follow it and lift the telephone lines so it could clear, took the rock 11 days to reach its destination , the trailer had 176 tires . it had 3 tractor trailers pushing/pulling . it was very cool . they filmed a show on the discovery and should air soon , iirc it may be mega movers. (click on it , its a video)

and last some of my recent builds , nothing too crazy

spikes tactical , billet upper/lower spikes piston 16" ss barrel , magpull acc, trijicon ta31f with 4.0 moa rmr, la rue/harris bipod chambered in .223

tim , the rollpan is made for the SS specific since it has the lower body moldings. standard roll pans dont fit the ss without looking horrible. a guy on the SSS.com forum , BSER makes them and they are pretty nice . i got mine with the truck when i bought it back in 04 , the installation was pretty rough though so i completely re fitted it and it looks and fits perfect. molded would have been nice but its tough to fill fiberglass with plastic so i left it .

yeah , cody i dont know if it makes a difference but it was granite. they said it was one of the biggest one piece of granite around . it was just weird to see someone who wants a stupid rock that big . i read on it , he paid over 100k for it but then spent over 10 million to move it . the route had to be thouroughly engineered because of overpass's , alot of them had to be bypassed and street/on-off ramps used since it was tall. i cant wait to see the documentry to see if im in it.

Yes, it does make a difference. Granite is approximately 150# per cubic foot, whereas a normal limestone(what we use down here mostly) is around 135-140#PCF. That doesn't really sound like a big difference til you figure how many cubic foot that piece of rock is. So given the same size rock but in limestone it would be around 300ish tons. I don't have cable, hopefully they put that episode on YouTube or on their site. I love big machinery, that's probably why I like my profession.

granite is pretty dense, its igneous, thats why its so much heavier.

We have a marble sculpture that weighs 18 tons that we just moved. It was 24 tons before scuplting.

My dad and I are in the marble and granite business so I find these things very interesting, my friends think I'm a nerd

That Challenger looks terrible with the "Asanti" b.s. and whatnot. I'm glad you put it to him in a truck. Nice rides--always liked the E55's, and the LSX is awesome.

c6 was a ls2 vette with major body mods. there is a specialty corvette shop near me that does alot of stuff. i thought i saw it at barry white shop which is next door to my work , they film the show wrecks to riches there . body work was very nice on it although the money spent on the exterior , the motor seemed all stock from what i saw.

dont worry about being a nerd, i cant tell you how many how its made , mega movers , build it bigger shows i watch and get yelled at because its boring. i really like that kind of stuff . you can never have too much knowledge , not even steven hawking.
