Thumbs up Help me pick out an Assault Rifle

A friend of mines dad is wanting to sell me a Romanian AK-74 SAR-2 5.45x39 for $325. It has never been fired and seems to be in decent shape. However it has a pretty cheap feel to it as most of the metal looks like cheap stamped steal and the finish is pretty poor.

My question is, is that a decent rifle for $325? Or if I am going to go for a cheaper gun, should I try and find a higher quality built SKS rifle for cheaper, or should I look at spending more money on a better rifle (suggest some to me).

My budget is $500 or under to be realistic.

How is an AK-74 (AK47 clone) not an assault rifle?

What model is it? SAR 1,2, or 3. Or is it a WASR?

What caliber is it and how much did you pay?

I dunno bout the rifle man, but the ones the troops use right now in sandy land, are freakin sweet!!! I would get one if I were you. I think they are standard issue 3 round burst ect. I have 2 friends that own them, and just thru the open sights at 100 yards I would make 4-5" groups. with my 44mag marlin rifle, I would make 4-5 foot groups lol.

Wasr-10
they are 7.62x39. I payed 300 for both of them about 5yrs ago. Came with a assortment of clips and some acessories, plus a 8in long bayonett(sp). Most fun was getting all that shipping grease out of the barrel and chambers.
