I am located in Montana, and my agent tried for over a half hour to remove the surcharge but no matter how he did it, it still came up with the surcharge on the policy summary. He was saying it was just something with the vin on the truck I don't know what it could be but it is frustrating.

Do other similar trucks with this guy have the same surcharge? There is nothing about the VIN that would elicit a high performance surcharge about that truck. It says it is a 5.3 but I bet other trucks don't have that surcharge. I'm guessing it is one of three things:

1.) It is a new company wide policy or something for any V8 vehicle.
2.) Your insurance agent is an idiot.
3.) He considers you high risk and doesn't really want to give you more insurance.

One of the things that insurance companies use as a tool for basing their rates is, among many other things, how much damage you can do with the vehicle. You can do way more damage to another vehicle with a truck than you can with a camaro, generally speaking. This is not coming from me, this is from my wife, a claims adjuster. Obviously not the only factor, but one that will help explain the cost inversion of the truck and camaro insurance.

Make sure he has the right VIN. But sounds like you need to switch agencies and tell him you are doing it because he's a tard.

We went over it with a fine tooth comb it says that the truck has 285 horsepower stock, I have a clean record, he asked if it was an SS but I obviously told him it wasn't, and I gave him my proof of registration to pull all of the information from. I don't know what else would classify it as High Performance to the insurance company anyways.

He's trying to screw you. Switch companies. Unless you have more than 1 car on there and it's the OTHER car thats causing it, but not likely.
