I think it will be a tremendous success...
So many people want a performance vehicle but can't due to the needs of hauling a family around and their gear. This car will solve that issue
Albeit this wil get great fuel economy, for it's class, with the proper engine/tranny/rearend ratio

My buddies G8 gets damn near 30mpg and runs mid 13s in the 1/4 bone stock... hard to argue with that.

They are modeling it after the Holden Caprice, Not the Commodore, from what ive researched and seen.

I have seen a few of the US Caprice around that they started using as cop cars... from the fenders back it looks like they use an impala and the front clip just doesn't have enough edges compared to the G8 imo.

Spent a few weeks in Sydney in Feb and Holden Commodore's and Monero's are everywhere, along with some other Ford rwd sport sedan that looked pretty sweet, never found out what it was though.
I'll get some pics up, but the Holden's over there are much better looking than our G8's...

Was the G8 a raging success........... No. It's the same car rebadged as a Chevrolet....... It will still be a failure. A few forum board loves for it means diddly on the real world market.
Their only hope for success will be making it a dominant player in the police vehicle market. However a quick search shows that the wait time on getting cars isn't helping that. GM here and Holden really don't seem to care too much about it either so the whole police pipe dream probably won't happen either. Sure you will see them, but I bet there will be more Chargers than Caprices forever..... They don't even offer the Caprice yet up here and the Charger is taking over nicely for where the Crown Victoria left off....
For the money these guys make selling cars to fleets in a niche sector...... I don't blame them for really not caring.
