I dont think people really care about mpg's
Well took a trip to Walt Disney this week with my family. Looking to see what I could get mileage wise. No one fits in the truck so took the Saturn Outlook 3.6 vvt. Set cruise to posted speed and did really well going there about 22.6 mpg and coming back 23.1 mpg. Hung in the right lane I swear no one does speed limit lets say posted speed is 75mph people average 85-90mph. So for example the 35mpg **** is out the window. Just funny how people at work tell me their car/truck gets window sticker mpg's when you see how they drive. Oh well we had a great time at Disney the weather was beautiful.

At $4 a gallon I know I do. Those speeds don't make a noticeable difference in my cars though. My Yukon gets the same at 80 as it does at 60 and I have the same experience with my other cars. The stop and go traffic makes the biggest impact to my mpg's.

Ive got a company truck, and my wife has a honda civic. So my personal truck i could give a **** less what it gets for the most part as long as its not single digits. Most of the time when Im in my truck Im either towing someting, carrying something or hauling ***. None of which is conducive to good mpg.
Its also hard to do that in my truck since I sold it Saturday

As with anything else, there are exceptions, but I'm pretty sure gas mileage is just something for people to complain about. "Ohhhh gas prices! Ohhhh my head hurts! Ohhhh gas prices!" Oh well. Gas is a necessity, so I just go with the flow. People fly everywhere. People launch their vehicles from lights, like they're at the strip. If people really cared about their gas mileage, they wouldn't be driving that way. I try and try to keep my trucks under 2K, daily driving, but I have a hard time doing it. I accept that gas is expensive, that my trucks aren't great on gas, and that I don't find conserving gas easy. I've debated getting a smaller car, that's good on gas, because I can't stay conservative as long as I'm in my trucks.
