I swear I don't know how people are getting good gas mileage (well... over 14mpg) with a full size truck.

I have a 2002 2500HD with a 6.0 gas engine, 4x4 and crew cab and my average around town is 10. Best highway ever is 14mpg, and my average usually always comes out to 11.3-11.6mpg

I went to the scales today to take some trash out to the dump. With a full tank of gas, empty cab (no tools or box) and the factory hitch and a 265/75R16 spare, factory 4.10 gears ect ect my truck weighs...

6,400lbs. Ol' girl needs a diet from hell.

Weight reduction: None
Weight added: 30lbs dynamat (floor, doors, roof)

Around town I stopped trying to get good MPG. To much stop and go and to much of a heavy foot and doing digs from a stop light.

On the HWY I have found that if I do a little under the speed limit (speed limit is 65) I get a lot better MPG.

On the hwy last time home with cruise set at 60 I was over 20 till some of the longer inclines. Averaged about 19 for the whole hour long drive. Not to shabby for a boosted 6.2

I took a trip in my new 2012 a few weekends ago to my parents place. About 300 miles round trip. On the way up @ 70 mph I was averaging about 20.2 mpg, until I got just outside of their town when the speed limit kicked up and I kicked it up to 75 mph and got into some hilly country. Even then it only dropped to about 19.5 mpg. On the trip home I went through Houston, and averaged 19.5 @ 70 mph but also made 3 stops along the way. Average for the entire trip was 19.4 mpg round trip. This was computer calculated, but I've found it to be extremely accurate with my truck.

Only had about 4K miles on my truck at the time, with the mods below, still on stock tune. I can't ask for much better than that. Most times driving 50/50 I usually see anywhere from 17.5-almost 19 mpg.

My silverado can get up to 18 hwy but i have a chevy cobalt for work that usually gets 29 with a heavy foot and up to 33 hwy. The cost of the fuel does sucks but the main thing ticks me off is we are giving them greedy sobs so much money and oil should be cheaper

add a ton, way more drivetrain loss, bigger motor, bigger tires etc to a lil single cab and it wouldn't get **** for mileage either
What's depressing is my gutless c10 that's at titty height on me gets 11-14 everywhere. It's amazing what an extra gear and some engine tech will do.. My gmc will drop it like nothing and get a tid over 20 on the interstate.
