I am looking to buy a 01+ tahoe or yukon soon and have just been looking around online and autotrader but half the time peep never put what size motor the vehicle has. I want a 5.3L but i dont know how to identify one, if anyway possible. I see Tahoe "LT" but dont know what that means. Is there anyway to identify the motor in these without popping the hood? haha

dont some tahoes come with 4.8s. i know depending on area also determines rather it has a 5.3 or 4.8

ya my cousins 02 tahoe has a 4.8

most of the tahoe Ls models with cloth interior have 4.8 look for a LT or a Z71 package fully loaded with leather to get the 5.3 mine is a Z71 but i have taken off the roof rack wheel flares and painted all my skirts black because the z71 one all come with grey skirts hope that helps all z71 packages come with 5.3 and 373 rear ends and heavy duty suspension.

8th digit in the VIN...it's either a T(5.3) or a V(4.8)

isnt there a sticker on the fan shroud, or wutever that plastic piece is that goes over the fan and radiator, that says wut engine it has in it?
