optima is right up there with royal purple. they both make you pay a premium for ther name, and end up leaving you with a chitty product

I put a red top in the trunk of my Oldsmobile, a LONG way from the engine, strung stupidly with welding cable instead of actual automotive cable, to crank the 11 to 1 455. Sometimes after it had been sitting in the -40 weather for a few weeks. Now it sporadically cranks over my 10 to 1 495, a handful of times over the past 3 years. It seems to me they're like 5 horse Honda engines. Some people love them, some people have nothing but trouble. I saw an article in Car Craft a few years back that explained what the difference was, but I forget that much. However I do remember they recommended boosting a regular wet cell battery, and connecting that to the Optima. Maybe try that before you open up your wallet.

That's where I work. I would explain to them what is happening and that you'd prefer to get your money back instead of another replacement.

I have had a yellow top in my 2006 silverado for 3 years with no problems so far, also had dual yellow tops in my 1997 silverado for 4 years until i sold it with no problems. must be the luck of the draw with them.

The best battery for the price is the Costo brand. I believe it's a repackaged Die Hard and I got mine for around $65.

I've never had an Optima that lasted more than 2-3 years. There are certain applications where an Optima is a good battery, but for most, a wet cell battery is better.

Quick Reply: Ill never buy another Optima battery!
