Ill never buy another Optima battery!

I have had great luck with Optima batterys.
My first Optima Red Top died earlier this year......it was 9 years old. It was in my moms camary (the 3rd car it was in.) It had also been drained several times to completely dead.
The Optima Red Top that is still in my truck is going on 6-7 years. I have killed it 3 times and there have been times my truck has sat for weeks at a time and still starts my truck.
I know the Red Tops are designed for starting batterys.....ie high amounts of current drained quickly. The yellows I think are a mixture of a deep cycle and starting battery. And their Blues are a deep cycle marine battery.
If my Optima goes out tomorrow ill go buy another one at a repuitable dealer.

That sucks to hear, I guess it's just the luck of the draw. I've had two red-tops and I like them just fine. The first one was lost when towing the truck somewhere, was kinda stupid but whatever, neither had/have failed me as of yet.

I have had my red top going on 4 1/2 years been in three differnet vehicles over that time even killed it once by leaving the lights on allday. It is still going strong even survided hitting a big buck one night doing 65 on the side it was on.

I'm gonna side with the luck of the draw crowd. The redtop in my Monte has been in there about two years, has sat in an unheated garage for weeks at sub zero temps, has been sent through the engine fan (not sure how the radiator made it out of that one) and still fires that old beast up first turn of the key every time.

My first red top was made on a Friday afternoon for sure! I had it 3 months, drained it fairly low one day and it would not hold a charge longer than 1 week sitting after that. Got another...been fine for a year but now will not hold a charge longer than one week sitting again.
