LOL I had a similar experience happen about a month ago. I was putting in my new battery and was tightening up the ground on it. I was using a socket wrench and as I was tightening it, it slipped and landed right on the positive terminal. I couldn't tighten it anymore and it melted the socket so it wouldn't just come off. I burnt the **** out of my hand and melted my craftsman 3/8 socket wrench. I won't make that mistake again I hope.

Reminds me of my second car - a 1973 Olds Toronado with a 455 - was running kind of rough, looked under the hood, and saw a plug wire disconnected. Decided I would just plug it back in, and......

Re-wrapped the fingers this morning. The aloe straight from the plant really seemed to help, the pink and red seems to be gone.

That is my skin you see, that is after everthing was cleaned off the burns. The skin on my little finger is hanging loose, and the middle finger looks like a blister, but thats just loose skin as well.

My ring finger is burned black most of the way around, and on the palm side of my hand, you can see were the skin ripped open. It really doesn't hurt or look nearly as bad as it did last night. The smell of burned flesh has gone away finally.

Can't get a good picture of the ring, I tried. If you look through the blurr, you can see the melted spots on both sides of the ring.

I did the same thing about 25 years ago when I was working under the dash of my pickup. I still have visible scars on my ring finger and little finger. Hurt like S***, but not nearly as bad as I hurt after the A** kicking I received from the wife after I spewed out a bunch of very unkind words in reference to my wedding band while she was standing there!

Years ago when cttandy was still in kindygarden I worked at Kmart.. I was bringing carts in and somehow managed to get my finger in a spot that smashed my ring onto my finger. Actually crimped the thing to my finger. I ran back to the hardware dept and used a screwdriver to pry it back off. Made a nice bruise and the ring has a distinctive crinkle to it.
Later I was working at a batting cage that had a conveyer that carried the ***** back up to the pitchign machines. It got jammed and I reached up to free the jam and a little finger of metal snagged the inside of my ring and started pulling me up into the ball seperator. If I had gone that far I would have lost my hand. I was holding on the the side of the machine with my right hand in a death grip till it bogged the conveyer motor down and finally the ring broke where it had been crimped earlier. Sliced my finger to pieces. Threw that ring in the trash. To this day I take off all watches and rings when I work on anything.

Ha, never knew that. Guess I was too little to remeber something like that.

Aside from crushing all the knuckles on my left hand, this could be my worst auto related accident so far. Technically, the knuckles were a tractor related injury. My brother knows how carefully I normally work. Complete with gloves, safety glasses, steel toe boots, and full length heavy denim pants. This is just one of those " your such an idiot" moments.
