The importance of waring safety glasses
I am really bad at this. I wore seeing glasses from 7Th grade to about 5 years ago when I had laser surgery done ( I'm 43 )so it was a long time. so It is hard for me to get myself to ware safety glasses when working on my truck.
Well I am getting my truck ready for the trip to Texas, About 2 weeks ago I bought a 5 gal. container of Meth so I would be sure to have enough for the races in Texas. It has been sitting in my Hot garage the hole time. I am sure you guys already know where this is heading, anyway I broke the safety seal and when I was leaning directly over the Meth can I pulled on the little spout that sits inside the can. All I felt was a face full of Meth, It was quite alot, I felt my hole shirt and pants soaked. I stood there for a second with my eyes closed assessing the situation. OK I'm thinking my eyes don't burn so that is a good thing, Now I am trying to remember which way I was facing so I know which way the door is to get into the house. I didn't want to open my eyes because I am pretty soaked. ( and for you guys that want to know the cooling affect of meth, well when it is all over you and the Hot Calif wind blows on you it is very cold) anyway back to the story, I stumbled through the garage damn near tripping over all the tools I always leave all over the place when I am done with a project Finally make it into the house, I have lived hear 10 years and I still happened to run into every F**k'n wall that this house has. Make it to the kitchen sink and ran water all over my face, Slowly opened my eyes and no burning, must have closed my eyes in the nick of time.
All is well and the moral of this story is ware eye protection, you only have two take care of them. I would rather go without any limb or my hearing than go with out eyes.

I work for a chemical production company where I do alot of chemical blending in the summer and I am ALWAYS very careful opening any container that has been exposed to heat. You got lucky since it was just methanol which isn't all that bad when compared to alot of other chemicals that could get in your eye (like formaldehyde). You'll always be thankful that you always wore your safety glasses when an incident happened and you came away fine because you were wearing the proper safety equipment.

a few years back i was trying to put on some spray on deoderant with a broken arm, so only one arm was usefull. i was trying to get it into my left arm pit using my left hand and shot myself right in the eyes. it didnt hurt but there wasnt enough visine in the world to bring moisture back into my eyes

I'm sure most of us remember from high school chem/shop rinse them eyes for 15 minutes when you get a chemical in your eye.
I have regular glasses but they don't protect for ****. Get little particulate **** in my eyes when working on stuff all the time.
