No, they did it because apple is separating ties with Google and YouTube is owned by google. This is the same reason the Maps changed.

Go to search in App Store, type in You Tube. Worked for me.

It was just a jab at the iphone. In all honesty now that is is finally 4G why not use the full site. I have never been a fan of "aps" over the real web sites.
I pay a lot of money for my phones and data so I don't want the watered down version. I want the real thing. I guess I do have unlimited and don't use much data anyhow so maybe they do help conserve data atleast.

If you updated to the IOS6 then the one that was orig in the ios 5, prior package was removed. You can get the app in app store like they said or you can go to the actual site, save it to home screen. The one on the app still does not utilize the full screen of the iphone5. If you go to youtube via the web on your phone, save it to home screen then you have the full size version.
