Jet Ski's
I didn't know where else to post this soooo Truck Stop it is! In your opinion or fact what is the ultimate sit down ski? Single or double no triple seat configuration. 2 stroke vs. 4 stroke. As of now I'm looking at a Kawi ultra 150 2 stroke a friend has been trying to sell me for literally like 4 years however I've just recently really started to want one. Are the 4 strokes faster than the 2 strokes? Also around here there are no bans on 2 strokes. Ill most likely end up upgrading and tinkering on the ski also so please take that into consideration as far as quickness on the lake goes.

Basically like anything else it is what you have to spend on it. For a new ski, nothing touches the Sea Doo rxp's. They are flat out nasty. The older yamaha GP1200's were nice, but are really a big ski. I have never liked the looks of the kawi or tiger shark ski's quite honestly I do not think you get the same ski for the money vs SD or yami. I have had older sea doo's a 97 spx was my fav, all around fun ski. Alot of my friends are big into them, all sware by the sea doo. IMO sea doo is the GM of ski's( and frankly I do not care for the french ). Again this is just my thoughts, but I have been around this kinda stuff my whole life as has most of my friends

No personal experience but I'm looking into them myself. Iv heard the older Yamaha around 99-02 800 or 1200 is the best and most reliable. Haven't heard anything good about the 4 strokes personally

The rxp's are 4 strokes right? Pretty sure a 97 spx is a 2 stroke.. How do these older 2 strokes compare to the newer 4 strokes? Really I just want the ultimate sit down for not much $ lol like that's gonna happen..

All the new skis are 4 stroke. The older pre 02ish were 2 strokes. All run well, it comes down to maint on them. And DESPITE waht any one tells you no factory production ski runs better then 70. My buddies RXP has a bit of work done, he is only getting 78 on the gps. The older skis like the late 90's sea doo's are IMO a funner hual design. They are also smaller, IMO feel more personal. The new ones are every bit of 9 ft long vs the spx/xp's of the late 90's 7 or so. Now if you have some time and are handy you can by hull to a 96-99spx, then slap a 2000-01 XP engine in there. WHOO

The newer jet ski's def are alot faster. The 97-99 spx 99-01 XP's all run right around 60 mph. Same goes for the yamaha wave raider, the gp yami's. The ultra 150's are quick also I am just not a fan of them, looks or anything. But to buy a 06 up ski is ALOT more then older ones. The main thing you want to look for is corrosion to the motor and all. Do a compression test. Around here the salt/brackish water will eat them up unless they have been serviced, flushed like the should be. On lakes and all( fresh water) I would not be as skeered( if they were fresh water their entire life)

So as of now we know mangled is a seadoo worshipper, and gp 1200's are reliable lol.. thanks for the fast replys guys I appreciate it! Looking at some ski's online now. With these SD's were there major motor changes or is it pulley n tuning? Cuz like some rxp's are rated at 215 others are 255 & so on.. Hell if I could get onto a newer ski for 4 er 5k I'de prolly do it.
