Well at least hollow point ammo shouldn't be too hard to come by for the 223.

The Bear ammo is regarded as the best of the Russian stuff. I've shot thousands of rounds of it without a single failure. It's what I'd recommend. I can't comment directly on Tula as I haven't shot it. But it's reviews aren't nearly as good as the Barnaul stuff. It is cheaper by about $.50/20 though.

From a quick google search, most of the Barnaul stuff I found in .223 soft point is discontinued or unavailable. I did find some decent prices on Bear ammo, but now the only question is Brown, Silver, or Golden Bear

Brown bear is cheapest and works wonderfully.

Silver bear last time I checked was $4.09/20 at CTD which is a good price. Hollow points or FMJ doesn't matter for plinking.

Alternatively, just buy the Yugo surplus 7.62x39. It's around $2.50/20 and is not steel core. The only downside is that it's corrosive....to combat that just **** inside the receiver and bore when you're done shooting

I don't have anything that shoots 7.62x39....

Hopefully my AR likes shooting the russian crap, cause buying America can get a bit expensive for plinking.
