Laptop battery life acting weird
So if Im running on the batter from a 100% charge it will work fine until about 63% ir so then it drops to 3% all of the sudden and I HAVE to switch to out let power or it will shut down. But if I charge it up from the 3% to anywhere up to about 60 some odd % it will work fine... Im lost. Its only about a year and a half old. And it just started doing it with no warning. It wasnt a gradual thing

rechargeable batteries are funny about how long they live.
some it is six months and others it will be 6 years.
I know my ryobi batteries for my cordless tools are the same way,
some last 6 months and a few have lasted 4 years before going bad.
something may have gone bad inside the battery and it is time for a new one.

Ya but if I charge it up to 50% it will last longer then if I charge it to 70% because on the down when it hits the low 60% it drops to nothing ...?

you said it was about a year and half old. could be it has reached it max recharge life and is just wore out or it has a recharge memory. like pappydan said batteries are a weird creature. alot of the battery life depends on the initial charge, how often its charged and for how long each time. the ni-cads were bad about developing a memory, but i have seen the Li-ion's do the samething. it is actually better if the battery was almost competely dead before recharging and then let it charge completely (4-6hrs), than a bunch of short/quick charges.
