In case anyone is wondering. In NY state parking lights need to be visible from 1000 feet. Brake lights need to be visible at 500 feet when the brake is applied. Window tint has to let 70% light through (Windshield, and side windows). The factory windows on the side of a Chevy truck let 75% light through with no tint at all.

Yep def illegal every where as far as I know.. Even if the lenses in the back are left red. However some say that they will pass inspection that way. Not sure, as I have yet to try it. If you alter any DOT item, it is considered illegal.. Around here some cops will mess with ya some won't. it is all up to the discretion of the cop...

I was pulled over for speeding and the cop made me get out and look at my lights. He said the rear of the vehicle has to have a reflector.
My thought was to just buy two small round red reflectors and put them on the license plate.
