Great picture.
Please don't take this wrong way not trying to come off high and mighty, just concerned parent =).
Many dogs do not like being hugged or having their necks wrapped up like that. I know that's instinct for most children but it's also a very high cause of unwanted dog bites. Not saying your pup would ever do that, but they are still dogs and anything can happen.
If you like this is an excellent read for how kids and adults can show affection and lessen the chance of an incident.

Like I said, was just throwing it out there for what it's worth. You guys know your pups better than I.
I also thought my golden would never bite my son and she did unprovoked..
Anyways.. back on track dogs sleep in odd positions...
