The suncoast Gmax6 kit with a precision converter(all good ****) is 2500 bucks or the "normal" drop it off and pick it up price is around 4500ish unless you know someone. Ive got a local guy who will do the bench work for 600. A lot of different ways you can get a "built" trans in your dmax depending on your price range and willingness to do the labor.

As long as you keep the filters changed out like you're supposed to and they're built right, they'll last forever. GMAX6 is legit from what I've heard. Then again, I've heard of guys only making it 70-80K on the Suncoast trans. with the 1057 converters, but that's with the power stepped up.
Edit: OP, are you concerned about emissions?

Its not too bad IMO when you consider it only takes a built trans, exhaust, lift pump and an EFI tune to consistantly run mid 12s in a crew cab 4wd 3/4 ton truck. If you do everything yourself and go with a cheaper exhaust youre talking about 4K in parts which is close to what you would pay to put an rcsb into the 12s reliably with new parts. Its just the trans is a big chunk all at once. I really miss my old dmax
