lookin for opinions on next pistol purchase
ive been looking at the kimber's for a few(6) months and ive decided its about time to get round to ordering one. only im stuck between a 4" or 5" barrel. ive looked around other gun forums. and its a 50/50 bias .
gun will see very little target shooting, more for protection as i drive through the hood every day and alot of prople have been gettin killed around here.
halp!!!
im stuck bewteen this one
(4" barrel)

well the only reason im skeptical about having a shorter barrel is only cause ive had a taurus mulennium pro . with a 3" barrel and accuracy was HORRIBLE!!! im hoping the kimber is a little better thats why im trying to get some opinions

The barrel length doesn't make the GUN less accurate, just harder to AIM correctly
Both of those are realistically too heavy for carry. Nice pieces for sure (I hate Kimber for personal reasons) but if you're really wanting a carry piece you should look at the Springfield XD series.
Just my 2 cents.
Yowzers on the $ tag.... dude, I'd carry something a bit more reliable. Not that .45 is a bad caliber (my personal favorite) but 10mm/.40 is probably a better round for your purpose.

I carry an xd subcompact 40, best gun out there imo for the price. I can put 5 in a 3" group at 15 yds on a cold barrel no problem. Id venture to say I could put 5 in the center of mass out to 40yds.

Just my opinion, i carry a glock 19 concealed every day. A kimber 1911 is going to be kinda a pain in the *** to carry, but it can be done. I dont know how much experiance you have with fire arms but if you have the chance to go to a range and rent a few different guns befor you buy one that might help you make your decision. My favorite out of the box hand guns are Glock, Sig, HK. I have also had good luck with Springfield.

I carry a springfield xd 4" model and it is highly accurate. Like said above I bet I can hit center mass or even head shots from 40 yards. But it is very unlikely you will ever shoot a pistol that far or even past 15 yards in self defense. If you cant hit center mass at 15 yards, you have no business shooting and will end up hurting a innocent by stander.(not saying this is you), but dont be scared of a compact or subcompact because of accuracy issues.
